East Midlands Ceramics In Top 1% Of Charity Donations

East Midlands Ceramics in top 1% of charity donations

Here at emc:tiles, we are happy to be able to say that we have extremely loyal customers
who have kept coming back to us again and
again over the years as we have grown. We spend a lot of time making sure we are providing the best possible customer service – right from the very first visit – which means we really get to know a lot of our regular visitors.

So it’s nice to be able to give a little back every now and again.

That’s why, when we were contacted in May 2016 by one of our longest standing customers who was appealing for donations to his charity fundraising efforts, we were more than happy to help.

When his wife suffered a severe brain haemorrhage and stroke in October 2015, Pete Longdon found himself caring for her, in addition to running his contract tiling company. As part of her recovery, Pete’s wife Helen attends a facility operated by the charity organisation for victims of brain injury, Headway. Headway’s work provides vital support to people like Helen, helping to build confidence by learning and relearning skills in an environment created specifically for people with brain injuries.

On the first weekend in June, Peter joined Helen’s eldest son Daniel and a group of his friends as they took on the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Headway, after one of Daniel’s friends was forced to pull out due to injury.

After Pete got in touch, emc:tiles not only made the largest donation to the fund, but was also in the top 1% of JustGiving donors for the month of May.

We’re really proud to have been able to contribute to such a worthy cause, and we’d like to congratulate Pete, Daniel and the rest of the team on a fantastic achievement.

If you would like to donate and read more about Pete and Helen’s story and the 3 peaks challenge please follow the link below to their JustGiving page;

"Making Some Noise"

Created by Global, the media and entertainment group, Global’s Make Some Noise is a charity that helps to change young lives.

This is done by supporting specially selected projects up and down the country, which deliver life-changing work to youngsters and their families in their communities. They are often small, operating on a shoestring, or tackling an issue that is little understood.

As home to 8 of the best loved commercial radio stations in the UK, Global tells the stories of these projects and helps to raise awareness amongst its 23 million listeners.

As well as providing financial grants, Global also shine the spotlight on these brilliant projects, each year grants are awarded to specially selected projects up and down the country. These provide vital support for youngsters and their families, where grants may fund activities such as workshops for teenagers with cancer, rehabilitation for children with brain tumours or support for young carers.

Currently... just under £2,000,000 raised!

Versa-Tile... Is There Nothing Ceramic Tiles Can't Do?

All The Benefits - Without The Hard Work

Looking for a wooden floor that won’t scratch, or a natural stone one that doesn’t need constant attention – or even an outdoor deck that won’t rot?

The new generation of ceramic tile lookalikes are the answer.

These days tough, hard-wearing porcelain tiles come in a stunning variety of guises, some so realistic you actually have to touch them to check if they are the real thing.

The latest wood lookalikes are astounding. Some top of the range products even have saw marks. And across the whole price range – fabulously finished tiles, fashioned to reproduce the sophisticated look of a perfectly fitted wooden floor, abound.

Then there’s the vast range of natural stone lookalikes, which emulate all the classic finishes such as travertine, limestone and even marble. Again, the big difference is, that they don’t need any preparation or maintenance... and they’ll look as good in years to come as they did on the day they were fitted.

Lookalikes are even marching into the garden too – with fantastic, no nonsense wood look alike decking and beautiful exterior ceramic tile paving.

EMC Tiles is one of the UK’s leading retailers of these fabulous products and the company has recently taken over the Leicester Tile Centre on Saffron Lane where it will bring their unrivalled selection of products. EMC Tiles Helps To Establish World Class Dream House

Published: 31 March 2015

Ceramic Tiles Help To Make Dreams Come True!

When a Nottingham couple decided to knock down a house they had recently bought, it was a case of having the opportunity of starting again, from the ground up.

Their first choice of flooring for their new dream home was ceramic tiles which was used extensively throughout the property, both inside and out. This included a spacious patio and barbecue area paved with a hard-wearing porcelain, stone look-alike tile in preference to more traditional materials.

The old 1940's house which stood on the beautiful four acre plot, on the outskirts of Nottingham, looked tired and shabby, but the couple had plans for a stunning ultra-modern, super-sleek structure, complete with swimming pool benefiting from uninterrupted views over the large garden and surrounding countryside.

Through close collaboration with EMC Tiles, who supplied the products and expertise, the project was able to progress and develop into what is now a fabulous new home with ceramic tiled floors throughout.

The impressive entrance hall, opens through to the huge dining / kitchen area and the tiled exterior patio beyond. The unified and coordinated tiling leads the eye gracefully from one living area to the next in complete harmony.

Tiled floors of the en-suite bathrooms create the perfect setting for the large picture windows and sit well with the luxurious bathroom fittings.

The owners say: “Ceramic tiles were essential to the whole design and were fully integrated into the plans from day one. Ceramic tiles are the perfect material for the seamless link between all the areas – both inside and out. They are glamorous, hard-wearing and very stylish.

“We chose East Midlands Ceramics as our supplier because of their exceptionally wide choice, great prices and expert help and advice when we needed it. They put us in touch with one of their recommended, expert tilers, Darren Cox, who did a fantastic job.”

This innovative and individual design has been entered for one of the categories in this year’s prestigious Tile Association National Awards – awards of which the company has won twice over recent years.

EMC Tiles - Taking Long Tiles To New Lengths!

Published: 23 March 2015

Seeing Is Believing When It Comes To
The New Generation Of Wood Effect Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tile wood look alikes have taken the market by storm in recent years – but now there’s  a stunning new product making them even more realistic – it comes in a 1.8 metre (six foot) length.

The current generation of wood lookalike tiles provide fabulous finishes, which are virtually indistinguishable from real wood. But until now they've always been manufactured in tile-like sizes.

However, these remarkable new products, which is being stocked by East Midlands Ceramics, has broken the mould – quite literally – with a 1.8 metre ceramic tile floorboard!

Now, with the introduction of a tile of real wood length, the criticism that ceramics tiles do not look the real thing has been completely dismissed and this new product should open up even more possibilities in this already highly popular market.

EMC Tiles managing director, Barry Slawson, spotted this new development at the International Ceramic Tile Fair in Bologna and is among the first suppliers in the UK to stock it.

He says: “Wood look-alike tiles are one of the biggest success stories in recent years. Every new development seems to have been more exciting than the last, in terms of finish and texture colour and realism.

“The extra length helps to create an elegant flow throughout all areas and will certainly appeal to a new generation of buyers in the domestic and commercial sectors.

Specially designed to bring out the romantic soul of the wood, the unique size of these tiles helps to unite rooms and designs in new ways.
